c'est par ses beaux yeux et son sourir mysterieux que Tuomas Holopainen crée le groupe Nightwish en 1996. Il est parolié et le pianiste du groupe...et au début se fut meme le chanteur.
Le groupe connu un ennorme succé en finlande...et se propagea naturellement sur le resste du monde ^^

Marco Hietala rejoin le groupe en 2002 où il fait bassiste et accampagnant Tarja a la voix tout en concervant son rôle de leader dans son groupe, dont son frère Zachary fait également partie,TAROT.
Sur Dark Passion Play ,Marco assur seul la chanson MASTER PASSION GREED et paratiquement tous THE ISLANDER dont il a composer la mélodie.

Emppu Vuorinen fait partie de Nightwish depuis la formation du groupe. Pour le premier album du groupe, Angels Fall First, il joue même de la basse,avant de se consacrer uniquement à la guitare pour les albums suivants.Il épaule Tuomas dans la composition de quelques titres comme Slaying the Dreamer et One more night to live présents sur l'album Century Child (2002)The Siren sur l'album intitulé Once paru fin 2004, et compose entièrement le morceau Whoever Brings the Night de l'album Dark Passion Play.
